The phrase “thought leadership” has been so thoroughly diluted that it now describes its opposite: a kind of pre-approved, committee-edited, search-optimized content that no one remembers an hour after reading it.

The founders and operators who actually build authority share three traits. They have a point of view that costs them something to hold. They publish on a cadence their peers can rely on. And they engage with disagreement instead of routing around it.

None of this scales the way a content calendar scales. That is the point. Authority is not a volume problem; it is a signal problem.

If a piece of writing could have been published under any name in your industry, it should not be published under yours.
